I am looking to get a macro lens, whats the diffs between the 60mm macro and the 100mm macro? Are there slight optical differences? Thanks

The biggest difference for me is that if you ever go full frame you'll have to sell the 60mm.

Same cost, hah? Makes the decission difficult. I decided to go with the 100mm. I was going to get the 50mm or 60mm but when I decided to get the 135L f/2 instead of the 70-200L f/4 I figured the 100mm would fill a void between the 135L and my 24-70L. Also, not knowing what may be coming down the pike in cameras the next few years I want a lens that will fit a full size sensor.

A few people on the forum have the 60mm EF-S I believe. They may be able to give you more info on the quality of it. The 100mm Macro is well known as a really high quality lens.

Apart from what has already been said, the 100mm will give you a greater working distance. If you like photographing creepy-crawlies, then that will be a big advantage.

Biggest diff. I can think of is the 100 will be so much easier to sell later. (which gives me a idea of it's "overall" value.)

100mm and 60mm macro same price? Don't think so. Pick up a mint second hand 100mm f2.8 USM and you'll save yourself some money. I recently bought a mint, boxed one on eBay, costing me about £230 net once I sold the included polariser. Then I sold my non USM one for more than £250. Crazy.

Yes, is so, Adorama and B&H both sell the two lenses for $449.95 each. I don't just make stuff up.

60mm is too short IMHO. The 100mm also makes a great portrait lens.

I think im going to get the Sigma 105 macro. Im tight on money :( I can get the 60mm for 360 though (I get the net price cus I work in a camera shop). But for 250-300 for the 105 on ebay, I can't beat that.
