I have yet been able to run my battery down. I've never had this problem before... well, it's not really a *problem* cause it's good that it lasts a long time. But I wish I knew how long the battery would last so I can plan trips out. So far the most I've spent on the battery is 12 hours (always in 'on' mode set at 15min timeout) and 3gb of RAW pictures taken. I was also using a 420ex speedlight during half of this time. The battery icon still showed a bar left.

I've got the battery grip ordered from BH and it should be here at the end of the week. I can't imagine how long it's going to last with two batteries!?!

I'm not sure which camera you're refering to, but I often go close to a month without recharching either of my batteries in my 300D grip.

The 350D battery does seem to last forever. If you're worried about running out of juice during the day, your best bet is to get a second battery to carry around. That way if it runs out you'll always have a spare. I bought a couple of $10 batteries on ebay from sterlingtek. They may not last quite as long as the canon battery, but for the price they make good backups. Here's a link to their site: http://www.sterlingtek.com/.

I am very surprised with the battery life in my 20D. I always leave the camera ON and it goes to sleep by itself lasting days (many). I think that one of the most critical aspects in battery life is the LCD brightness level (it takes a lot of current to light it up at the highest setting). My camera has exceeded the expectations I had in terms of battery life and I think that in everything else too :)

Cheers

Actually, I have 3 of sterlingtek's batteries on the way already! I'll probably end up rotating them so one doesn't just sit in the bag for months and months. I think that ends up reducing the battery's life.

it also has to do with the batteries themselves. some batteries are good and give a good battery life, others don't. Even if they are of the same brand, model-type and new. Batteries are not created equal ;) it is a matter of luck
