The resent snow fall here in the Denver area made me want to go out back into my garden and explore what was going on.

Love the rose, the rest are interesting too.

Thanks man! This and Nature & Landscape is such a tough forum. I'd love any kind of comments, good or bad. It's the only way we grow as photogs, but a lot of nothing Looky-Loos around here I guess.

Yeah, frustrating. It takes many people posting and replying to make a forum worth while.

It is frustrating! I thought that's what this place was for. I mean someone posts about putting some paper or cloth on a box with holes in it with some cheap lights and that gets 2 pages of responses?!?! You try to do a little art and all you get is tumble weeds and crickets...

It's hard to comment on something that lacks any emotional punch.
My two cents.

OK, that's fair. That actually helps. But staying quite and saying nothing is useless to everyone here.
What kind of "emotional punch" are you looking for? Any suggestions?

I've done similar things and for the most part I seem to be the only one who likes them! Nature isn't always happy, perky and colorful, is it?! Take this for example - I was among the very rare few who enjoyed it: http://www.pbase.com/boss351/image/117549336.jpg (an IR shot of a backlit Lotus leaf that's well past its prime) Each to their own, right!
Your images do have an emotional punch, just not the kind people normally want or expect. I think these are well done - just don't expect too many others out there to be thrilled by them!

That is a very interesting image Cobra. I like it too. A side that we don't often see much and usually that leaf would have been culled and thrown out.
And you're right, not a lot of people are going to like those type of images. A bit dark maybe, especially the rose, but I still like them. Thanks!

When I first started here, I gravitated to the Bird section, and as your supposed to do, I read all the sticky's first. There was one thread, about how to treat fellow Bird posters (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=155387), that should be a sicky in each forum here. It has now been moved to the new Bird Talk forum, but it still applies and should apply to every forum here. If everyone did this, POTN would be the best in the world.
Here is the first post in that thread, and it's the biggest reason why I do have so many posts myself.
"We finally got our Bird Forum!! Let's have a HUGE round of applause for Pekka and the Mods for taking care of us.
Now all WE have to do is take care of each other. Already the forum is jumping, there's lot of new posts but we still have people getting bumped to pages 3-4 without any comments. C'mon people, let's make this new forum a new beginning and a new chance to help each other.
Please take the time to comment on some posts BEFORE you post your new pics of the day. Bump the zero comment posts up to the top again and offer a comment, suggestion, or a bit of encouragement. Put yourself in the other person's shoes and remember how your first pics looked or the anticipation you felt with your first posts... it's important that we acknowledge and encourage each other, otherwise, there's no reason for anyone to post.
If everyone gets in the habit of doing this, soon there won't be any page 3-4 zero comment posts!! A few kind words, sharing the experience, and helpful suggestions can go a really long way. Show me the love, people... show me the love!"

Nice post Mitch! I too believe that 100%. While not everything I post is full of great advice or commentary, I at least try to say something nice or otherwise helpful. People don't have to post just good and encouraging comments all the time. Not every photo is worthy of high praise, but I find it's the less than perfect images that I post that teach me more. If I'm learning then I bet others are too.
