Focusing issues with the EOS 1d Mk11

I recently purchased the above camera and have been dissappointed by the inability of the camera to focus sharply on moving subjects, especially when shooting at 8fps. I have the bog standard amateur lenses and wonder whether upgrading to the seriously expensive pro lenses is going to make a difference - any thoughts
