In a few days I am going to shoot my first ice hockey game. I love the sport so I know the rules and when and where action should happen. I would like to know if anyone could give me an idea of what lenses would be best to use and maybe where I should shoot from?
Thanks :)

I shot my first hockey game last week:

I used a 70-200/2.8 the whole game, and it was at 200mm 99.44% of the time. I also had a 85/1.8 and a 50/1.4 with me but didn't use them.
There were no holes in the glass. I stood on a bench behind the announcers... it was just high enough to shoot over the glass. Then in the 2nd period, I shot through the glass directly behind the goalie.

I would suggest 70-200 (minimum) longer if possible and as fast as possible.
Lighting is useless in most rinks as far as photography is concerned. Dont be afraid of upping your ISO, you will need it!
Shoot from wherever you can get nearest! :D Shooting through the glass will possibly show up the smears/scratches in the glass so you might have to make that call there and then.

Thanks guys! I wasn't sure if it was like basketball where 200mm is enough but it sounds like I will be bringing my 300mm.
