Hi all, I just purchased my partner a 500d as a gift and want to get her a guide for using it as its her first dslr.
Can anyone recommend such an item?
Thanks !

The manual that comes with the camera is an excellent place to start. If you want something to supplement the manual I'd look in to getting the Magic Lantern guide for the 500d.

The manual is good, as well as Brian Peterson's "Understanding Exposure"

I recently bought this for my wife as it had excellent reviews:

Scott Kelby Books work good for beginners - good info without being too complicated.

I got this one as a gift from my girlfriend. Has lots of good info and is more so geared for the beginner into DSLR
