Kids were playing in the snow so I grabbed the camera. After reviewing them, I saw some were really cute so I cropped heavily in PP and tried to turn them into portraits. Thus, some (one especially) is OOF but I think it works. Would love to hear from you guys though.

Very nice! My fav. is the third one. I love the great balance of lighting even with the furry white hat fluff.

Thanks Christy! Chrisu - not sure what your post means.

I like shot two for sure. Shot one has been cropped so heavily that it doesn't do your daughter justice and the quality has suffered. Shot three looks really natural, which i like.

Thanks beatnut - I agree. Shot one was an attempt to save a picture - my son (she's the neighbor kid) was right behind her looking the other way so the only way to get anything usable out of it was to crop it tight enough to get his black hat out of the picture. However, she had a cute expression in it so I didn't want to lose it altogether.

Could you edit him out and make him into snow! That way you wont lose the quality in the cropping. What dpi did you upload it as ... that could be why it looks like less clarity also.

Not a bad idea - didn't think of that. I always take all my pictures L (fine). I don't shoot RAW yet because my Mac couldn't handle the 7D RAW files but I downloaded Aperture 3 last night and might give it a shot. Thanks for the suggestion!

Oh - this picture was taken pretty far away - there was some really serious cropping here.
