I would appreciate any comments on my enclosed effort. I usually have colour

images but used Photoshop on this image.

Many Thanks

The high values are too hot and definately draw from the eyes.....the eyes are where it's at..and they aren't there......don

Hi John
welcome to the forum.
wonderful face for a really good Character study, in my view your close but a couple of small points from me may help you to adjust this shot.

The lighting on this has given it a bit of impact as a reasonable range of tones, only reasonable as the whites are just a bit blown out, check your original as you may have lost some detail in any post processing etc.
for this type of male portraiture a really sharp image would have worked better, this shot seems to be a bit soft, almost as if blur had been applied in photoshop. I actually suspect the focus is not quite there.
Try using Unsharp Mask in photoshop at quite a high setting to increase sharpness as much as pos
may be you took more than one shot, check others for sharpness.
the light source seems vary strong on just one side.
I do like to see the eyes sharp and with detail a bit more fill light at the front or shadow side would have helped lift this shot.
Hope this is helpfull,

Nice, but i'd reduce the contrast to make the left side of the face brighter. For feedback people are encouraged to post in the "photo sharing" forums - this thread will probably be moved by a mod some time.

i really like this shot well done ,it would have been better if more of the eye's could have been seen.
