If it would even benefit me that is. I have a Dell 22 inch lcd, basic video card. I would like to rent a tool and return it after I am done

Monitor calibration is something that you should do on a regular basis. I have a Pantone Huey. I like it and it cost me about $60. It reminds me to recalibrate very 3-4 weeks or so. Just buy a unit and keep it.

I have a colorvision spyder2 and it's crap. Calibrates to a distinctive magenta tone.
Maybe the Pantone Huey is better, I've read mixed reviews so I'm not sure. I was considering a colormunki or the eye one display but keep spending the money on other items.

I agree with what has been said here. A one time use, is not exactly the ideal application of these tools.
My Pantone Huey works great too!
