I was at the Long Beach tattoo convention this past weekend, and one of the artists was doing traditional Tattooing, The 'needle' is sharpened bore tusk!

Not the greatest shots, but with a huge crowd, and not wanting to disturb the artist, I did what I could. Images have been brightend and cleaned up a bit, they where shot in RAW.

Nice shots considering the conditions. Thanks for sharing they are very interesting.

Nice shot! The contradiction of the crude instrument with the modern protective surgical gloves sort of jars the senses.

One question. Did the holder actually have a huge black cover tattoo on his left forearm or is that a digital coverup? If it is digital, maybe one of the POTN experts can give us direction on a more subtle manipulation. I would think cloning would be near impossible on such intricate artwork but that is just a guess.

No, thats his arm! Not sure if it has some kind of signifigance, or if it is cover up. I've seen a few all black forearms lately, perhaps its part of some underground thing (I am heavily into the tattoo scene, yet with a shirt on, you wouldnt be able to tell)

Thanks for the comments!

most of the pics I took where quick shots of some of the models I'll be working with, nothing post worthy. I did post up some pics of an artist doing some great pin stripe work in the transportation section.

I promise I'll take more at the Next convention, 14th and 15th of July

Interesting shots. Colors are crisp, vivid. I look forward to the next ones.

Thanks!

Will have a slew of shots from the Pomona Show.

If I could stomach the suspension shows, I'd take some shots of that, but ugh, people hanging from meat hooks just gives me the heebiest of jeebies.
