Wait!, before somebody flames me or removes me from the forum for blasphemy!! I just got my results back for Kodak B&W Infrared, and I must say this is by far my most satisfying roll I have shot. The results are... different, and I like! However it is a difficult film to use and results can be rather surprising. Oh, and it's also not cheap to get printed, developed or scanned!
Please tell me what ya think. Pictures have not been edited in any way except resized. And some pics have evidence of fingerprints from the lab - ARGGHHH!

Well, way too much grain for my liking. I like the third shot with the seat and couple though.
What's a D350?

Yup, it's a very VERY grainy film, part of it's appeal I suppose, although I must admit I would love to have had about half the graininess...
As for the D350, it's the next model up from the D300. If you search on this forum, you will probably get thousands of replies!
Here is a good review of the camera if you are interested. http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/canoneos350d/

Hi Josef,
what settings and filter did you use? The shots look too grainy and underexposed.I've attached a sample I shot some time ago...EOS 10 camera, iso 125, f16 with R72 filter, haven't got the shutter speed. And you're right it's very tricky film to use! I'm having my G3 converted to full time IR, no more film problems!!

Hey BikeRider, nice pic!
This was my first roll of this film, so the next one (if I can get my hand on some more) will be a lot better.
I shot with different settings to test which would be best. I found my best pic's to be F8 @ 60 and F16 @ 60 (more light). I used a minolta 505si (horrors! - cause to be ejected from the forum again ;)) with a cokin red filter (not truly a non-IR blocker.
I think the graininess is due to a 2 issues. First is the lab (the only one I know of in my city that can process it), they may have developed it in the standard chemicals used for other film (I don't know anything about darkroom techniques). Also the scan seems to have exaggerated the grain quite a bit.
I have dedicated my minolta as an IR film camera from now on if the film is still available.
Do you have any hints as to how you got yours so smooth? Did you use the kodak HIE film?

Hi Josef,
yes I used Kodak HIE rated at 125iso. I had the same grainy problem with one roll I shot through my medium format camera, with 35mm back and using a cokin red filter. The R72 filter makes a lot of difference!

Thanks, that's a great hint! I'll be buying me one of those soon!
Is this the filter that is opaque, or can you still see though it?

I'm afraid you can hardly see anything, another reason why the middle of the day is the go and a lens with IR index on the barrel.
