The hack on my rebel has enabled the 1/200 flash sync speed. Now, how does this help me? When should I used this and when should I set if off?

Ya I know, I can hear 'Talk about getting something without even knowing what its about'

The DRebel came out of the factory with a sync speed of 1/200. It wasn't the hack that did it. 1/200 is the fastest shutter speed you can use with any flash which doesn't have a "high-speed sync" option, and that includes the interal flash of the DRebel.

As for your other question, "when should I use this and when should I set it off?", I'm not really sure what you are asking but I'll give it a shot. You use the 1/200 shutter speed when you need that speed for whatever shot you are taking. If you are using a flash that doesn't have the high-speed sync mode, and you need to use as fast a shutter speed as possible, then 1/200 would be what you would use.
