We don’t get much lightning in Yorkshire and when we do it is usually not very big so i was quite pleased to get this.

Nice one! The storms this year have certainly been producing a lot of lightning.

I enjoy seeing photos of lightning - yours are very good. In the first one, it looks like the lightning was in front of the tower, but I'm guessing it was much farther away? That picture is a classic example of lightning that strikes the ground far from where it started. It shows that it pays to be in a safe place during any audible thunderstorm (meaning that the lightning is less than 5 - 7 miles away. What exposure times were you using?

It was much much further away than it look mate yes, using 4 seconds for 1 mile (lightning to thunder) it was about 5 miles away with the pylon being around half a mile away.

The first one was 15 seconds at f2 with the G6's ND filter on but i prefered the star shapes off the street lights so i turned the ND filter off, kept the shuter at 15 seconds and altered the aperture to suit. The ISO was 50 all the time.
