Hello all,

I freind of mine was getting rid of some of his lenses and sold me the Sigma 12-24mm EX DG for £30. I was wondering what people thought of this lenses, good?, bad? I would post some pictures but I need to grab a new card reader. It seems to be fairly sharp and the wide end of the scale is very nice.

It does mean now I can use this lense over canons 300D kit lense.

Thanks

-David

Terrible.. sell it to me for L50.00 ;)

Really you got an unbeleivable deal! It's worth more than ten times that!

And it is the widest AF lens you can put on a full frame SLR.

Whoa.. great! thanks :) I have to say it has a lovely feel to it, not too heavy, well built, quick AF.

I bought one for my 10D and I use the heck out of it. It's certainly good enough for a sub-10 MP sensor of APS size. I haven't used it where I could see the corner performance on a 24x36 sensor, though.

Congrats on your nice lens! I´m sure you like it.

BTW... if your friend just happens to have a 70-200L IS USM f2.8, in mint condition, for sale at approx. $ 1000,-- just let me know.

I bought my 12-24mm Sigma EX for use on my 1.6x crop Canons... 12mm looks like 19mm at 35mm equiv. Nice...
The real magic for me is using this lens on a used EOS 35mm film body where 12mm is W-I-D-E... I shoot mostly long telephoto and macro... So I don't use film for that... I might shoot 10 or 15 rolls of 35mm film a year using the Sigma at 12mm... This gives me 350-500 very wide pix at a whole lot less than a multi kilo-buck full frame digital camera...
Just a thought... It works for me.
