But this is another backpack thread.

I've been looking at backpacks for a little while now and was wondering if you could recommend something for me. I need a backpack for travel and to hold a small amount of gear. I'm going to Haiti over spring break and would like to pack as much in as little as I can. As far as gear I'm only bringing an XTi with the kit 18-55, Tamron 75-300, and a few accessories like batteries and CF cards. No laptop and probably no tripod. It will also need to be able to bring clothes etc for about 9 or 10 days of travel.

I've looked at the F-Stop Tilopa Backpack and one other similar to it and liked them. Unfortunately unless my family wants to make a donation so that I can spend $300 on a bag I'm looking for something a bit cheaper. I'd like something around $150, but I realize that may be impossible. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas? The other solution may be spending $100 on something like the Teton Sports Explorer (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B001947FG8/ref=asc_df_B001947FG81031259?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&tag=googlecom09c9-20&linkCode=asn&creative=380341&creativeASIN=B001947FG8) then just buy a small shoulder bag for my bit of gear.

Again, sorry for yet another bag thread, but so far none of the other threads have really answered my question.

So more or less, you're looking for a travel backpack with camera storage, rather than a camera bag with clothing storage. You'll probably love this:
http://products.lowepro.com/product/Versapack-200-AW,2171,14.htm

available at B&H for under 100 bucks:

If you're looking for something a bit smaller, with a little less room for clothing and such:
http://products.lowepro.com/product/Fastpack-200,2085,14.htm

B&H for 60 bucks:

Good luck!

I have no specific suggestions, but I will say that I sure wish I learned the virtues of the company "Think Tank" long before I bought 6 or 7 LowePros. I can't see myself ever buying anything else as long as they have an option for what I am looking for.

Think Tank is a wonderful company, and I feel that their products are equally as well made and versatile as Lowepro's, but have a slightly higher price tag as they are slightly more specialized, but they dont have any product remotely close to what the OP is requesting.

I've got a Tamrac Aero 80 that's similar to the lowepro mentioned above. Its priced reasonably as well.

You're right, I do like that first bag. I nearly got something similar awhile ago and may get this and just use it as my carry-on for the flight.

I've almost literally looked at every backpack in the review thread and haven't been able to find something that will really work. Which I somewhat expected.

Right now I'm probably just going to get a dedicated travel backpack and if I dont get the something like versapack or Fastpack I may go with something like the Lowepro Classified 160 AW, or the Think tank Change up. Not totally sure just yet. Also I need to figure how much I will have have in total to spend on all this.

Thanks for the suggestions!

Canon 200EG.

Have it. Love it. However, doesn't do what I will need it to for this trip.

It's bigger then I want for a carry on (I brought it to Europe and would like something smaller for this trip.) and Isn't big enough for even 1 days worth of clothes let alone 9.
