I just processed an old photo from my MIL's photo album and although it is very faded sepia, it appears to have been done in color.

What year was the first color processing?

The Lumiere brothers introduced Autochrome in 1907, and Dufay updated it in 1930. But the first truly successful and widely used color film was Kodachrome in 1935. It was invented by two musician/chemists named Mann and Godowski. I still have some beautiful Kodachrome slides of my mother made by my grandfather in 1939.
