When your subject is this BIG!
Just thought I'd show you my baby, she's 7 years old now...apologies for the quality of the pic - she hasn't done her hair and she doesn't have makeup!
This is more a snap than a photograph..

How something so big can hold to a surface like that. Amazing.

You should see them walk up glass. It's not as easy as you think to knock them off...

Nice,(sarcasm) dude thats his pet, I am certain you wouldn't want someone saying that about your pets. Next time keep it to yourself...J
On another note:
nice pics, about how big do they get? and what and how often does she eat?......Joe

She's a beaut! Can you pet her, or does the hair make your skin itch?

thats a lovely spider. Since I got my little camera, I'm looking everywhere for spiders, so I can get a nice picture. I have developed an adoration even more for spiders now. I envy that you have such a cool pet to pose for you:)

i love the first pic... itd obviously be better with a wider DOF, but the parts in focus are VERY sharp. the picture really jumps out at you. the pet spiders, are they defanged or anything? do they ever bite you, or are they friendly? have you been bitten? seems like it'd be extremely painful.

I used to own a pet shop and we received a big rose hair in one time. It was very docile and seemed to like being handled by my staff. The only time I ever handled it, I ended up at the emergency room with a massive allergic reaction to it...Now I know why they call them rose hairs... A few shots later and I was all good...

That doesn't sound like much fun! Strange alergy... were you bitten or something..?
Anyway, nice shots of your cute(gulp) little pet. I'm not a big fan of anything with 8 legs, but I love snakes! Omg, I want a snake. I guess it would be cool to hold a turanchula like that though. Are they like, furry/soft or are those little hairs sort of course for grabbing onto things...?

sorry-not been to checking regularly:
JOPFIN: not sure how large they get - they're not the biggest tarantulas but they're one of the most docile. i feed her about every week - depends on her or when i get a chance to get the crickets. sometimes, she doesn't eat for a month!
TUPE:
no, the hair doesn't make me itch tho i wash my hands afterwards. she's never bitten me but almost before when i tried to handle take her out whilst i was watching tv. i put my hand down and looked away at the tv, when i looked down, she was on my palm but her fangs (1.25cm long) were stretched out, so i immediately pulled my hand away!
RBRTPTIK:
they're furry and soft! i once took it outside with me right after my last exam at uni to the corner store...this was right after spiderman the movie came out so i was walking around the store with it on my shirt. all the staff were standing quite far from me when i was paying at the counter. i thought that was funny!
i've never done it again tho...
thanks for the nice comments.

This reminds me of a time my roommate asked me if I could drive him to the store. I did, and when we went in, we were getting ready to pay and he was digging through his left pocket with his right hand (he looked like an idiot) then when he said "Just a sec" he put my tarantula down on the counter (to free up his left hand). I had NO IDEA he had brought her with him, but what a shock to everyone that was waiting in the line up!!
I don't recommend that.
This is her when she was much smaller (and yes, that's my hand). Regarding the hair though, they have tiny little claws on the feet (2, if memory serves me right) which is why they can walk up slick surfaces like glass. The hair you can barely feel (it's pretty soft).

PS. Since Some of you are showing interest by asking questions, I thought you might like to see how a spider molts.
Getting ready to start the proccess. The shiny stuff is the web. They spin themselves a little cushion to lay on.

Coming out of the shell:

Out and tired now (it's a long proccess). That white spot was caused by a previous injury where the molt (shed) didn't quite seperate from the new skin underneath and ripped part of the new skin out with the old.

Ah, new skin. Fresh and pretty. :)
