a newb here but have taken photos since the 70's. overall, composition is good, i.e., subject on r side, but there's nothing to 'grab' the viewer, i.e., facial expression, frozen movement, etc. all PP looks good.

not feelin this one at all.. i don't really have any criticism other than the fact that you didn't have much to work with, with the original

Did you add motion blur in post processing?

The reason why I ask is because at 1/125th, I would not have expected any real motion blur like that. Especially in the corner where these kinds of karts don't exactly go very fast.

When I tried to get a shot of my son a while ago I had do drop the shutter to 1/50th to get some decent panning-blur. And he was driving a 6.5HP Go Kart at probably 30 Mph at that part of the track...

Actually, no there was no motion blur added in PP. Straight from the camera.
This was actually done on P setting.

There's an old saying that a good picture tells a story. Regardless of post-processing, this one doesn't. It's an image of a blue vehicle, where the more compelling image would be an image of a person - someone with one hand who overcomes that handicap to have a good time at a kart track. A picture that shows the approaching kart and emphasizes the expression on the driver's face would start to tell the driver's story.
