Cool pics. I like the Larry Morgan shot.

some nice shots. may be worth cropping to allow a bit more space in front of the cars so they appear to have space to move into

NHRA is tough from the stands. My advice, do what I do, get the highest possible seats you can get. This way the wall usually won't get in the way. With two car shots, focus on the near lane. I have focused on the far lane before to, but it just looks better with the car closest to you in focus.

Your shots from the right side of the track are better than the one's from the pit side. It's harder to get good racing shots at Pomona from the pit side stands because you have the return road between you and the action. Your shots from the non-pit stands are better because you are a little closer to the action, and it looked like you were a little higher up.

thanks for all the advice everyone! it was my first time attempting to take pictures theres, so ill be better prepared next time. I was really bummed not being able to get any good launching shots (capturing the tire wrinkle) with all the pro photographers being in the way, but they need to make their money!

If you go again, and have the option, try going on Thursday. It is a lot less crowded and there is no reserved seating so you have the run of the stands. Only downside is that the far side stands aren't open, but having the run of the pit side stands with smaller crowds makes it easier to get your shots. The trackside pro photographers do hinder the starting line shots, but you can get some nice shots without photographers by shooting the burnouts.

yah im usually given tickets to go all weekend, and always liked to go thurs and sun, but with my current work schedual, (and I dont see that changing at the end of this year) I am limited to only going on Sunday. I didnt know there was no reserve on thursday though, thanks for the heads up with that one.

I took in Saturday's round. Had a reserve seat on the pit side, great for watching, but lots of challenges if you're taking pictures. Had to shoot over nostalgic cars on display, over the barrier, between the pro-photographers, and you're father away because of return road. Most of my focus was on the far side car going down. I think non-pit side was a better spot to shoot if you're in the stands.

Good shots, especially that pair of nostalgia funny cars. That was a perfect weekend of racing (hopefully I'll post some of mine soon).

I think John is looking hungry for another title, and it's tough to call anybody but Schumacher for TF, but Dixon just may be able to take it.
