While walking through my hometown on a visit last week I managed to get a few shots of people dancing near the center square of town.

From a flyer given to me by one of the dancers:

"The Asheville Morris Men present Morris dances from the Cotswald region of England. Morris Dancers celebrate the changing seasons and perform for enjoyment."

This is of special interest to me for 2 reasons:
Morris is my last name,
And I stumbled upon them dancing and celebrating for the first day of summer, which is coincidentally my birthday (June 21).

Hope you enjoy,

~John

Of course it still exists - it is what makes Britain Great!! :)

They have annual get togethers in Warwick every year I think - the town is full of men with bells on their trousers and shoes.

Damian, the Morris Dancers make Britain great? Eh? I think I must be confused. I always thought it was the British sense of humor ... or are these the same? Was Winston Churchill a Morris Dancer? :-)
