I'm a Linux user and the only commercially available RAW software is from Bibble Labs.. (It's a Windows program, but they sell a Linux version)

It's similar to Capture one.. I only use the light version..

The Canon software that came with your camera has a program called Digital Photo Professional for RAW.

I just downloaded Rawshooter Essentials which is a free software on the web (google for it) and its a good program to use.

This one is a good start. I use Photoshop CS2 myself, I like it better.

I've also switched to using Adobe Camera Raw with CS2 and have been pretty happy with the capabilities and ease of use. I only wish you could toggle on and off displaying the active AF points while in ACR.

Having listened extensively here I am now using RSE 2005 - as a relative newcomer to RAW and someone who doesn't like to spend hours post processing its a great program and free - v intuitive interface. I upload from camera using File Viewer Utility (as I don't exclusively shoot RAW) during which I weed out the deletable ones. Then I renumber and rename into the right directories. Then I upload into my PSE 3 catalog and tag. Then I backup. Then I RSE convert the RAWs saving as version sets in PSE3.
