Sailboats

I shot these from my backyard during a weekend practice session. I saw them setting up the buoys so I got my equipment ready. The lighting is tough, but this group wasn't thinking of me when they scheduled.

Guess I was messing around with DOF. I'm still playing with the digital, so no telling what I was thinking. It works for the last pic, but not the others...

Where the heck do you live? :shock: That's GREAT seeing that Yawl in the second shot heeled so far over. Talk about a RUSH! ;) :D

I live along a bay in South Tx. That's the Laguna Madre Bay, pretty much the southernmost part of it. What I really like about it is that the bay is north of the house, so I can almost always work with the lighting. Glad you like them. That black boat goes out all the time! Must be tough to be him. He appears to be a very good captain, because he will even go out in stormy conditions. I think I have a shot of him coming in during a storm...I'll have to dig. Here's another shot of him leaning it over.

and this next one isn't digital, it's slide film, but he also does a good job decorating his boat for the holiday boat parade.

WOW! He's REALLY got it heeled over in this last shot! Looks like the water is going right over the gunnels. :shock: I'd like to see the photo you have of Him coming back through the storm. Thanks for posting these. :D
