Hey guys,
When I put my G11 to shoot RAW + JPEG, for some reason there is no JPEG. Instead, there are 2 RAW files!!! It duplicates the RAW file or something...
For example:
IMG1234.CR2 and IMG1234(96).CR2 are on my comp later...and it also gives a non-sequence numbers to the other files when it "duplicates" them. Next photo will be IMG1235 and IMG1235(107)
What's going on?? Help please...
Thank you
Ivo

This is a known and oft discussed problem. It happens when files are downloaded directly from the G series camera (happened with my G9, read about it for the G10 ...). Somehow Windows does not properly treat the camera as a "drive".

To solve the problem, download from a card reader, not from the camera.

I know, I know ...

Check the manual for the camera. There is a specific procedure (using Canon's software) for downloading the Raw-and-jpg pair.

Gordon, you are my new best friend!!!
Problem solved, thank you.
I copy the files normaly from the cam to the PC directly. I do not actually use the Canon sofware... I could not even imagine that this could cause problems.
tnx again

I always use a card reader to transfer files to my computer so I was completely unaware of the problem. I read of it a few years ago when I got a G9 and it caught me completely by surprise. I even "tested" to see if it was a real problem. Since then the problem has shown up on the G10 and G11. I suppose it varies with the operating system; my test was with the G9 and Windows XP. I now have Windows 7 but haven't repeated the test.
