Hi Folks, I shot a Chinese New Year celebration for the Chinese American Medical Association of California recently. The follow are from the performances put on by members and their kids. I also took portraits (it is a pain to lug all that lighting and background stuff around by yourself...), but they don't belong here so I'll spare you folks =)

More photos on my website. C&C welcome.

As usual lighting was poor. I was sporting two 500D's so I caught most of the action.

I expected there to be just folks with cameras, but there was a association member who was introduced as a "photographer." Kinda irked me. He shot with pop up flash for about 75% of the event. Towards the end, a external flash came out of no where... but he just pointed it directly at his subjects anyways... lol

Here is a photo of him... sort of... I was more interested in his camera.

As usual, a Nikon nemesis appears! (jk) D700 no less, sigh. I am sure there is a guy some where in a Nikon forum talking about how this Canon jerk with two cameras was running around like he owned the place. :p

Very nice action shots, great timing and clarity of the first two. I tried to have a look at your website for more, but my internet is capped and it's not loading so I'm looking at your cats and HDR stuff on Flickr :p

I was expecting more rivalry between Canon and Nikon, but the 3 photographers with Nikons I've run into so far have actually been really nice, saying it doesn't matter which brand you prefer they are both good, and it's your skill that matters more. I doubt the rest of them are as mature though, heh.

Thanks for the kind words. I always joke about the Canon Nikon rivalry, the truth is I have a good friend whom I use to work with (not in photography but at Apple) who shoots Nikon.
