Has anybody managed to get Adobe's Camera Raw plugin working with Photoshop running in Mac OS X? Everytime I try, I get the, "Could not find either photoshop 7 or photoshop Elements 2. Please install either of these products and try again." error message.
Anybody?

I downloaded and installed the ACR plug-in without incident on a 2000 Powerbook (Pismo) running Mac OS X 10.2.4. The plug-in requires OS X 10.2 (Jaguar).

Hmmmm, the plot thickens. I am running OS X 10.2.4, so don't think it is that.
I wonder if my download is corrupted.... The filesize of CamRawJPEG.sit in the finder is 5.9MB. The .sit file contains a single folder 'CamRawJPEG', which in turn has a single file 'Install Camera Raw Plug-in' wich is 6.9MB in the finder. Does this compare with your download? I was surprised not to see a readme file.
Thanks

The installer is 6.9MB. On the order screen http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/cameraraw.html , you can download a User Guide (471K) and a Q&A (76K) in PDF format.
Downloading a fresh copy of the installer may be a good place to start. But, I do not know how to do that. You can look at your order by going to PURCHASE>MY ACCOUNT>SIGN IN>VIEW ORDER HISTORY. My order now shows "Download already pending". Info to contact Customer Support is at http://www.adobe.com/store/general/contactus.jhtml
Good luck,

Thanks Dave.
It seems like my installer is OK, also at 6.9MB. BTW you can repeat your download from the transaction-one ftp site (if you need the details of this let me know).
I have also tried Adobe support, but really didn't get very far. They have no reported instances of this issue and don't seem to know how I should proceed.
Is your 7.0 installation a new install or an upgrade? The only other thing I can think of is that my 7.0 upgrade version is the cause (although Adobe assure me it isn't).

Robin,
Mine is a PS 7 Upgrade, so, I am afraid there is no help there for your problems. During installation, you select the location of PS 7. Do you get this far?

No I don't get to that stage. I accept the agreement and then it searches for installed components. At the end of the check it comes back with the error message.

I think you need to have Photoshop 7.0.1 installed for the ACR plugin to install.

Robin,
My first step would be to run the Disk Utility and "Repair Permissions" which must be done from the HD. While at it, I would also "Repair Disk" which must be done from the Jaguar CD.
If that did not work, I would then reinstall PS 7 plus the 7.0.1 update in the Applications folder.
It is generally recommended to "repair permissions" everytime you install or update an application.
Wish I could be of more specific help. If you have PS7 properly installed and the ACR installer will not recognize it, then something basic is amiss.

I had the same problem. Contacting Adobe support led to the conclusion that I had to re-load PS. This solved the problem.

Thanks. This is exactly what I did last night. Problem solved.
Thanks all
