Just like my previous comment, here in #2, I would shoot from camera right. This way the nice natural light will bring up her face and eyes. And that wooden fence will be going in and out of focus at wider apertures.

Picture #2 looks a smidge back focused - like the focus is on her sweater rather than eyes? Are you trying center point focus and focusing 1st at eyes then quickly recomposing the camera? It's really tough with kids this age. So it could be that you focused correctly but she just moved too quickly. Color popping is a matter of post processing which I am no good at, but this place should point you in the right directions.
