After long researches and lots of reading, I was really in between the Canon 24-70L and the Sigma 24-70 Ex DG Macro (the new version). Considering the prices involved (1500 vs 490 EUR) this morning I opted for the Sigma and going to save for the 100-400L for replacing my actual 35-350L. Still have to try the Sigma, but the reviews are all good, and it "feels" good in hand. We'll see ASAP how it does. Surely its not the Canon L, but it was 1/3 the price...

Looks like you have your focal ranges covered with quality glass, then

My next consideration would be to put some of your lenses (e.g. 18-55, 28-105, 90-300) to the market, as you have better alternatives at hand.

Best regards,
Andy

Be interested in seeing your best test images from the Sigma whenever you have some available. Those seen so far are very encouraging and fstopjojo's test v's the much more expensive Canon 24-70mm L was also convincing.

Nope. The cheap stuff is useful for when my wife wants to take pictures, she does not like heavy and big stuff, so she enjoys the kit lens and the "plastic piston" (the 90-300 and the 28-105). I don't want to take those away from her for the moment.(at least until she decides that she wants to go for the bigger stuff).

Also, selling all the three of the won't cover anything else that I may find useful (have a lot of other nice stuff that is not in my sig) so I prefer to keep them all. Eventually, I'll just get anorther 20D for myself (or a single digit body) and make the XT/lenses my wife's bag. We'll see...

Ben, it's just a matter of getting back into photography after years. I'm rebuilding my whole set, and I don't like to go too slow... sure, nor for the 100-400 L IS and some other stuff I'll have to slow down but... I've don all I could as soon as possible.

After having had available for several years Leica, Pentax, Mamiya and even a Hasselblad now that I am getting back in I try to avoid tech limitations. I have already my own limitations to overcome, don't want to worry about equipment also :)
