I recently bought a 20D!!! I want to get to know the camera fast. I was wondering if anyone here has used any of those training dvds I see on ebay. If so I would like to know how you liked them. Maybe if no one still needs their copy, they would be willing to send the original or a burned dvd to me. Thanks.

Did the sales assistant not tell you all you needed to know?

Seriously though, if you have a good read through the well-written manual, it does cover everything very simply and you can go at your own speed. If you don't understand something, please come back as someone is sure to help.

Alternatively, a good book in always a good choice. It's easy to think that the DVD will tell you everything you need to know, but the camera itself is not too complicated when you grasp the basics.

i agree. the manuals are pretty good at teaching you how to use it. just read and test, read and test.

How useful those training videos are really depend on how much you know about photography & operating a SLR in general. If you have a fairly good grasp of photography & SLR operations, then 1 hour with the 20D camera and another hour learning where the controls are will be fine. But if you're fairly new to photography, SLR etc. then those videos will be more helpful.

IMHO, the fastest way to learn is to join a camera club or take a course. You can always learn by yourself, but having someone point out the tricky bits always helps.

Thanks for all the feedback. I haven't even had a chance to unpack the 20D because we are preparing to move. (As a matter of fact I should take down this computer.)
