This is really my first attempt after messing around and seeing how Photomatix Pro works and all, I would you say this is a Fake HDR due to method I used.

1 Jpeg photo with editing to 5 different exposures.

It lacks the range of a true HDR (something typical of all faux HDR's).
Looks like you've got the software sussed though, but try multiple expousers for a true HDR instead. Also use RAW's not jpg's :)

Yeah I've noticed that it doesn't seem as HDR like like this. Though it has lightened the photo up in some areas.
