All,
I want to protect a link on my website with a password (i.e only people with the password can access the link). I am using Dreamwaver 6 - does anyone have a simple suggestions on how to do this, if at all possible?
Thanks.

What kind of hosting are you using?
Most hosts these days have a control panel that will let you do this stuff much easier than messing about with the code. Anyways Htaccess is what you want.

Malum,
Thanks for the reply. I am a bit of a novice when it comes to web sites. How do I find out what kind of hosting I am using?

If you tell us who you use for hosting and which package you are on then someone will check it out for you I'm sure.
If you are using the hosting provided by your ISP for instance then your options may be limited.

Malum,
Basically, I am using the services of my ISP. As far as I am aware I am not using any third party software (apart from Dreamweaver of course). So am I knackered?? Should I be using some other software??
I have just looked at my ISP and it says it uses MySQL version 4.0.16. I assume this is the software my ISP is using?

It should still be doable I think.
My knowledge in this area is limited though.
I think you may have to load the htaccess file to a part of the server you don't have access to though.
Check out htaccess on google for options
