A lot of times this will happen - but there's no guarantee. You just need to keep price checking the reputable places. And remember, if the price "seems too good to be true, that's because it's a lie, a bait and switch, a scam, or they're leaving pieces out that come packed from the factory." But no, I haven't heard any rumors.
Where are you price checking?

Seems like the 7D price is still up high, even after the 6 month post-release period.
Have to wait for new gear to show up, then the prices will go down.

Back in 2005 I had to wait 6+ months before places came down $300 on the Classic 5D.... and that was shortly after PMA.

Just sold my used 2-year-old XSi for $400 :) ........after upgrading to 7D.
Had to also get rid of the 24-60mm f/2.8 Sigma to help fund the new body......and I'm glad I did :)
