I have a 30D that's been sitting her for a year and I'm not sure what to do with it. They shutter button just quick working. I upgrade to a 50D. I'm just cleaning my office and decided to try and find out if it's trash or what I can do with it. It's already been to Canon for repair. I have no use for it....I have my 50D and a xsi for back up.

Thanks,
Bridget

Repair for this is cheap, no? What do you want?

I agree, it shouldn't be a big repair. If it were me and the cost was too much I'd think about finding a broken 30D (or maybe 20d would work?) and swap the components. Otherwise, sell it I think you could get something for it.

Stick a battery grip on it and shoot portrait orientation?

I rarely shoot landscape--It wouldn't be a big deal for someone that shoots sports.

Use it as a remote with a wireless trigger??

time lapse with a remote for a year.
may have to make a case but think of it as a good camera for stuff that you would not do with the 50.

The shutter or shutter release key is broke? If it's the shutter, then it's a $350 repair from Canon...I repaired it myself: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bPWty4XCbe0

The shutter or shutter release key is broke? I wondered that too. If it's the release key, maybe you could use the other release with a remote cable.
