I just pried my wallet open and ordered the MkIV from B&H (looks like they still have some available if anyone's looking). I just ordered the "kit", but no other accessories. Wondering if anyone has something specific to suggest that I may be missing.... I'm not looking for generic "if you're shooting sports you need X" suggestions, I'm just asking if there's some surprise I may find I needed to buy specific for the MkIV that I wouldn't have already had with my MkII.
Spare battery is one thing: I typically shoot ~4000 pics a day, which has been working well with 1 battery, maybe just into a second battery. Should I expect to be able to shoot about the same number on the new batteries?
Thanks,
Dave

Dave,
Your # of shots will go down due to all the bells and whistles the camera has. I shot about 2200 shots with mine over the weekend with one battery but I didn't run it all the way down which i should of but I didn't want to be shooting a sequence of shots and run out during the middle of one so I put in second battery in but i also did alot of chimping bacause it was my real test with the camera so that probably used up alot of the battery.

Thanks for the input, sounds like it may be smart to have two spares, even. I notice that the B&H site brought up the page for the Delkin 3rd party battery, right after I ordered the MkIV - have you used them? On the MkII, it seemed like the 3rd party batteries just never quite got going well, so I stuck to Canon, but the Delkin's $25 price is sure tempting...

Dave,
I have not used the Delkin or any other 3rd party battery. I was lucky to have a Mark III and it uses the same battery as Mark IV and got another spare just in case I use both cameras at the same time.

I have several Lenmar (http://www.amazon.com/Lenmar-DLCE4-Digital-Equivalent-Battery/dp/B001CSVSDC/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1266526053&sr=8-2) batteries for my MkII's. In my opinion, they are better than Canon OEM ones. They hold a charge longer and they're much cheaper. I'm sure same rings true for the MkIV batteries.

Cool, thank you! I think I'll go with a Lenmar and see how it works out.

Dave I would pick up one extra battery. I use the canon one, well, just because I dont think on a 5k camera you should skimp on a 150 dollar battery. but that is just me. as far as other accessories. I guess it all just depends on what you shoot the majority of the time, but the battery is a necessity.
