i found lots of threads about all kinds of motorsports but moving, and id like to see ur best car photo shoots :)

this weekend we are going to have the oportunity to make a photoshoot for one of our feature cars, a Shelby Cobra Kit Car.

Three things to remember. Lighting, early or late in the day. Location, watch your background and foreground. Angle, move your feet, stand up, kneel down, lay down. When you have a fantastic car in a great location, work it, take lots of shots from every angle imaginable.

Here are a couple of recent ones that I like. I think your approach should differ depending on whether you're just trying to show off the car or whether you're trying to tell a story with the picture.

Well, after you burn a few thousand frames you tend to figure out what works. Of course I come from the old school, before Photoshop. You couldn't clone out stuff in the background or play with the highlights and shadows. If it wasn't good out of the camera you might as well toss it. That, and everytime you went "click" it cost money. I can't tell you how many times I'd try something different and end up throwing away a whole roll. But that's how you learn and when it does come out good, its a great feeling.

Better think of another background or location next time. A car in a sandy beach?? Really? Also that angle is not to flattering to this specific vehicle. Good try though! Keep practicing and concentrate in applying all those good advices you give in your work. I bet that in the end your pictures will improve tremendously....good luck, keep shooting!

its at Daytona Beach, where you can drive on it and that was taken mid last year but thanks for specifically picking out MY shot. Its not grass ;) Show me another shot on this thread of a car on a beach... its different at least.

Grass or sand are not typically related with this kind of photography...thats why I picked your shot. Different? Yes...does it work?...No. Perhaps thats why there is not another shot like it.... I look at that picture and my first impression is of a car stocked in the sand....It says nothing about the car....But, hey...there is always another shot!

Katodog, I knew what was loading as soon as I saw the very top of the t-tops. Love the lighting on the T/A!

Yup, it's kinda hard to miss a car like that, but the lighting wasn't me, blame that on the Sun and the time of day. Every now and then the Earth is in the right position to give us some decent lighting, otherwise we'd be screwed outdoors.

Thanks, it's Alpine. The guy I shot it for is a good friend of mine, and wanted my classic dark/moody style, so he got it...haha. Single -1EV exposure shot with the D700 + 200/2 combo, standard processing.
