Nice focus on both but the backgrounds are just a tad harsh. I wouldn't shy away from blurring them a bit.

You did a great job. You stayed away from the usual too ultra close shot and really composed these nicely. The lighter colored 'hoops' in the second one are a bit distracting but they do not ruin the shot. Very nice overall.
