I voted b&w also, but I think it could be tweaked a bit.

a mix between color 1 or 2 works. color 2 is a bit too saturated for my taste. also, i like the frame of the color over the crop of the b&w because it shows his overall size more than the tighter crop of the b&w.

I like color#1... almost a lomo effect.
But I do also love looking at old film images to see how well/unwell they captured that moment in time.

I think the black & white version looks like like an Eastern European Refugee documentary.

It looks as though we are in the minority on this creative endeavor. I understand people like photos on here, but why do they ALWAYS like the normal colors? There's no creativity in it.

S_S, I think #1 is the winner here as well. It has a great feel. I believe that it would help to bring the highlights down (perhaps even a bit more than I did here - although the haloing will need to be addressed regardless). It helps restore detail in the subject's face (great expression) and clothing - as well as toning down some of the bright, bright flowers near the boy. The bright leaf near his head is a distraction. It could be toned down or removed. Although I didn't address it in the edit, the streaked look of the background (edit: which upon further study appears to be a texturizing effect applied globally) could be addressed somewhat with a blurring tool to tone it down a bit. The boys head is perhaps a bit crowded at the top of the image. Though helpful mods could be made, you really have taken a good photo with a very nice feel to it. I like it.
