that people selling lenses, cameras, etc. would check the "buy" forum before posting their item for sale. :(

Then why don't people who post WTB check the for sale section before posting a WTB?

I checked before I posted mine, I don't know if you are referring specifically to me or not.

If you post it in the Sell forum, *many* people will look at it, and if it's reasonably prices, will probably sell within hours.
If you look in the Buy forum and see 1 person wanting to buy it, they'll likely take longer to contact you and likely won't pay as much as you can get in the Sell forum.
So it's in the seller's best interest to post in Sell so as many people as possible see the item.

Yeah, I've never had anything take more than a couple of days to sell, so it goes pretty fast. On one item in particular, I had a payment from the buyer in my paypal within 2 hours of posting!
It only seems logical that people would lean toward the faster moving section first. And currently, that's the sell section.

Ok, I get it! It's just frustrating when you have something posted that you are looking for and you aren't on the computer 24 hours a day and then once you do sign in, the item you want was listed in your absence and sold shortly before you signed in... That's life, I guess!!!
Thanks for explaining. :)

Something else to keep in mind that the buy/sell forums do not update the same way as the rest of the forum. When a new post is posted, normally, that thread moves to the top. In the buy/sell forum, they do not. That prevents thread bumping. It's best to open the WTS forum and then search that particular forum for what you're looking for. That is the best way.

I know what you mean. I wish people would ...
1. Lock the thread when they sell.
2. Keep the prices up that they sold item for.
It drives me nuts!

You're right. All of these are covered in the Stickies; however, people can't read the other rules about 30/30 for the marketplace. Why would they do the above?

I wish people wouldn't reply to a thread in the sell section with "BOY NICE DEAL THIS SHOULD GO FAST" or some other stupid comment about what a great piece of equipment that is....bored much? I get excited when I get an email notification that there's someone interested in the item and then....some loser with nothing better to do
"NICE LENS OMG!"
