The most interesting thing I have discovered since receiving my digital camera a few weeks ago is neither technical nor even photographic. It dawned on me recently that I was noticing much more beauty in the world, even when my camera is put away somewhere, even when just slogging through traffic on the way to work.
Somehow the more frequent photo-taking, the self photo-processing, and the rapid feedback loop allowed by the digital camera are making new connections in my brain, connections that my old film camera and mail-order processing never generated. Or maybe I am just getting older. Either way, it is a fascinating phenomenon!
Some of you must have already seen this in yourselves....

Rather interesting Rod, I know several months ago the girl I was seeing at the time came to me and said (After following me around and watching me take photos for months) "You know I look at things differently now, I see things that I wouldn't normally see because I've been watching you look at things when you take photographs". And she was right, we do look at the world differently once we get behind the lens :)

what's happened her jamie ?
were you not keeping an eye on her as well as looking through the lens ?
her following you round and round and you never guessed what she was thinking
she says she saw something she wouldn't normally see!
can't you see it was you she meant : )
or could it be this reason

::mmmm mushrooms make a nice stuffing inside of tomatoes stop it marie
now you're making me hungry
and I haven't eaten in 14 hours (not that you'd know by the size of me!)
*wanders off to find photos of food* :::

looks like
# 1
eating
and
# 2
looking through the lens non stop in between .
no wonder you have called her
'the girl I was seeing at the time'
except you didn't really 'see' her.
you were watching the world, and the food, go by through a lens ?
best of luck with the shots in the monastery at the weekend

lovely expressions
I agree with everything you say
everything going on can be so interesting or beautiful.
the added fact that we can capture some of it forever with the camera lens is wonderful and perhaps makes one more aware or sensitive to it all

It's definatley true with me now too(I am taking photo's with black and white 35mm film right now though(just started being serious about this about a year or so ago)). Right now I am waiting for my new digital cameras to reach my hands. I am actually dreaming about having them.
