We arrived for a vacation at our children's home in central Wisconsin to total blackout as the result of a storm that had gone thru the day before. I got to play with the nifty-fifty (which I am finding much more difficult to manage than I would have ever thought). This is one of many taken by lantern light during the power outage which lasted 24+ hours. Comments and critiques welcome and re-edit is OK by me.

Wow those eyes sure are huge! The 50 1.8 is very difficult to use when the lgiht is not too good. Drives me nuts becuase I have to strobe everyone with my flash while the stupid lens autofocuses, it takes forever too!

Great picture, Dave. I think it captures the moment. Not to mention he's a great-looking kid.

Thanks for all the comments. He is a joy to photograph - never seen him cranky! It should be an interesting week here in WI, unfortunately the storms look to be past...

Here's one in daylight. This image suffers from a DOF problem, one of the issues I seem to be battling with the Canon 50 mm. He is really cute and I love his hair. It seems to naturally stand up straight all the time.

He kinda looks like you're telling him a story and he just isn't believing a single word you're saying. What a cutie!
