This is my first time using Canon's DPP with my new DSLR XSi. I'm getting back into photography after being a film photographer.
I just want to check with you guys about post processing or anything you like to say and make sure my sunlight stuff is OK.
I didn't use reflector because I was by myself and not fill flash (which would have been bounced) because you know that if I would have went to get it, the cat would have gotten off the table!
She really does have some pink in her fur.

Lighting wise, I think it looks good and balanced and the picture is sharp. However, my only concern is that due to the angle of the cat, it's hard to focus on one thing, or better yet, I don't see an area of emphasis due to the angle. Perhaps it would be better also if the other eye had more detail.

Don't you think the emphasis is on the eye, mainly because the other eye is in the shade, it's looking at the camera and the cat is gray? I'm not sure exactly what you're getting at but I really appreciate the comment. She was rolling around and it's cute when they put the top of their head on a table or the floor.

I think it's cute/awesome photo!! I like how it focuses on that one eye. Good job :)

Looks good to me: sharpness, composition, lighting. I believe the eye is enough to keep the eyes from wondering...did that make sense :D

If I cropped off a bit more of the right side, the eye would fit in the rule of thirds.

you might want to take the picture at a diff. angle or have more sunlight. you could barely see the other eye. but great photo!

I didn't have a lot of choice with the cat flipping around like a fish out of water but I agree that there could be a better angle. I may try to lighten that other eye but that wouldn't make a lot of difference.
Thank you.

I like the light ... and I like the pose (position) ... It's original and sometimes it's better to have a different pose than the same ole cat pose we tend to see 1,000 times.

I understand your view of having the one eye as the emphasis and in a way, I agree, yes it does add a bit of emphasis. However, I think the one thing that's breaking my emphasis when doing a quick glance at the photo is the angle like I mentioned before.
But then again, it is a creative shot..... good job!

Thanks for the comments. Corser, just to let you know, the camera was horizontal and parallel to the floor, just so you know I wasn't tilting the camera for a weird angle. I appreciate all your comments.
I'll be bothering you all a lot in the near future. (Not all cat photos.)

Love it! Very nice cat and definitely an original shot. In terms of processing, I also thing you did well. At first glance I thought a tiny bit more black clipping would help, but then I tried it and it looks better your way. Good work =D

I like it just the way you presented it. "I got my eye on you!"

That's what we're all here for..... to learn from one another. By no means am I an experienced photographer, so I'm constantly learning from everyone each day.
