I would urge anyone intrested in a new 350D or even a 300D to check out the great deals on E-Bay. Just make sure you buy from a legitimate camera shop that puts these packages together and make sure its a NEW not refurbished camera. I only paid $1,200 for this package and got: 350D body, Sigma 18-50 and 70-300 tele lens, Sigma macro lens, 1GB CF card, high speed card reader, 55 inch tripod, hard case and carrying case, lens and image sensor cleaning kit and a few other things. Memory card is in place and battery is fully charged, now all I need is some daylight :D

Well done,

Living in the UK, I'm not too familiar with prices in America but it certainly seems you've managed to acquire a good kit.

Is this your first digital SLR and what have you been using? In any event, I hope you'll enjoy very many happy hours shooting with your new camera.

Best wishes, David :)

Well its a great price considering that the body and lens alone sell for only $200 less than what I got this kit for. Yep, first SLR. I was using the nice but very underpowered Powershot A75 that I took that pic with. I am getting more serious about photography so I needed a more serious camera.

That looks like a great starter kit, but i've found you generally get what you pay for. Congrats on your new camera :)

You probably paid for everything you got. And what you got in the way of extras were probably old/low end items that if you realize want to get more serious about photography, you'll probably sell or discard to get better lenses.

Exactly :) But I am sure you'll have lots of fun with your new gear for some time to come.

...you'll probably sell or discard to get better lenses. Eventually you probably will. I have a 28-70 f/2.8 "L" that I like a lot. OTOH, I still use my "obsolete" Nikkors on my 300D, & they work very well for me as I'm used to using the manual settings for photography.
Learn to be comfortable with your new stuff, & have fun. "State of the art" from years ago is still pretty darn good! ;-)

i think so too. just starting out, it's hard to be too picky when choosing gear. the cheap stuff can be used for backup later. not sure it would be worth too much second hand. have fun.
