One of my golfs, I think silver cars lend themselves to B&W :)

Nice shot there!

The B&W definitely adds to the "Cult Classic" image.

Looking at the picture here it looks blurry, must be the compression and resizing for the net, cos its clear on the original

Looks GOOD in B&W. These are GREAT little cars. I came real close to buying one brand new at the dealer in 01. The one I almost bought was a diesel, but still very zippy. I ended up buying a Jeep Cherokee instead.

mmmmm euro bunny, sorry golf. so hot, so sexy. this IMHO is the finest automobile on the planet. them euro mk1s are even lighter than the north american counterpart which are light as a feather as it is. nice choice of rims, BBS or lookalikes? anything fun under the hood?

A shade under 900kg :) Geniune BBS 15" rims and the engine is very special, the original block has been overbored to 2 litres, it puts out 140bhp and plenty of torque :D

Here's a picture of my other one at a magazine photoshoot :)

ohhhh, gosh, i could just stare at hot euro bunnies all day long. alright, quit tip toing around the specs of the engine ;). what is under the hood? you have me intrigued. keep in mind i know these vehicles inside and out. i can fire off most part numbers in the engine bay off the top of my head.

im assuming it was orignally a 1.8L? what head is on there and is there any work done to it?

the best 8v engine i have put together was a 3A block from a 91 audi 80 mated with a solid lifter head from the run of the mill gti rabbits over here. the head was opened up on a flow bench by a local shop and decked to up the compression somewhere in the 12:1 range. all ran by good ole CIS. CIS would crap out with WHP around 135 depending on CAM timing and where i wanted the torque curve at. mated with a 4K tranny and a .71 5th gear, nothin but pure fun with decent gas milage on the highway to boot.

the engine is now waiting for another body to be put in, chances are it will go in the hatch of a rabbit some day...maybe next summer.

Since you ask it was a 1800cc, now with 92.8mm crank and 82.5mm pistons (making it 2000cc), a stage 1 head with a sports camshaft, all balanced with new valve springs, bearings and oil pump.
I can't be alot more specific with the details as I can only go by the invoice from the conversion done by the previous owner.
Nice to see the passion for old water-cooled VW's reaches as far as you :) try http://www.vwgolfmk1.org.uk/ for a look at lots of euro bunnies ;)

thax for the info, and thanx for the link. i can't say as i have seen that site before. there was a mk1 golf here in canada for sale a while ago but i couldn't justify forking over an extra $2000 just to say i have a mk1 golf instead of rabbit. i can cut enough weight out of the rabbits here to make them the same, and alot cheaper. one day i will have enough cash laying around to pick up an imported mk1 golf...one day.
