What you don't see here is CharlesU to the left holding a workshop and he is actually having these two practise chimping.

It's just a bit of fun.

taking a picture
looking at the LCD
making chimp sounds as you share your artistry with others...or only to yourself if you're that impressed. LOL

What about P&S users? ;)
Their LCD functions as the viewfinder... Can you chimp before you shoot?

hmm
I suppose P&S owners are in pre-chimp mode when composing the photo but afterward, squarely in chimp territory when checking their handiwork.
It's open to debate whether you are officially chimping if you fail to utter, " oooh! oooh! oooh!".
One school of thought considers private chimping (chimpus sub rosa) is the most common form of chimping. And of course last year, a symposium held to discuss chimping behind closed doors (chimpus in camera) disintegrated into much pooh-flinging among the participants;resolving nothing.
The field is just crying for more research. :-) :-)

Yes,. "Pre-Chimp".. or "Auto-Chimp"
Perhaps the term "Point & Shoot" is outdated...
It should be "Chimp & Shoot"
Dang my new G6.. I swear it's the best C&S camera I have ever used...
