Got to the casino. Put on my picture ID. Got an All Access pass. Got out cameras. Got a seat in the front row. Snapped off a couple of the setup and then some of the sidemen who came out first. Then some guy comes running up to me and says, "No pictures. Put that camera away immediately or you will have to leave!" I check with my guy and we agree to comply.

So, here's the review. Lyle brought his Big Band ... that means 18 supporting musicians/vocalists: four backup singers, pianist, drummer, percussionist, two saxes, two brass, guitar, mandolin, cellist, steel guitar, bass, violin and somebody I can't recall! :-) Each musician was fabulous, but the cellist was exquisite with a long solo that sounded very avant garde jazzy right in the middle of a cowboy sounding tune! The sound was excellent. The lighting was pretty good. Lyle isn't a great singer but his tunes are interesting and spread more toward jazz and gospel and personal observation than ballad and love song.

So, I will have a short hiatus. My next gig is a poker tournament next Saturday. I will share some shots from that event for you gamblers! I apologize (but not as much as my casino people kept apologizing to me. :-) ) for not delivering although I do have some images of some of the sidemen that I haven't been able to bring myself to download yet. Maybe later this morning. :-)

Gee, Alan, you and Bloo must really be handsome! :-) But do you really think his uglitude would prevent ALL pictures? Hmmmm, and here I'd been blaming a surly Road Manager.

Here's the most visually interesting of Lyle's sidemen. With a guy like this on the stage I'm not sure Lyle needed to worry about his looks!

That's Lee Sklar. In another life I was a fanatical bass player.

I uploaded a couple of others in http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?p=635140#post635140 of the drummer and cellist who was so incredible. I also like this one of Sklar better but it is so dark that it seemed less interesting. Of course, no rear curtain slow sync shots :-) as they don't allow flash!

Surf, It is as good a picture of Leland as I've seen so maybe they'll pay me, eh? :-)
