Need some help. See attached photo, hold off on the critique please, its a rough one for discussion!!

I saw this technique at a market today. The photographer had an actual matte with cut outs similar to my photo sample giving a window pane appearance. I couldn't wait to get home to try it!! Here's the process I used...

1. Opened the photo

2. Added a fill layer

3. Used the rectangular marquee tool to shape each window pane and hit delete as I drew each one

3. Selected the layer with the cutouts and then opened Bevel and Emboss. Added an inner bevel , chisel hard, depth 100%, Size 24, Soften ), etc..

Here's my problem. The outer corners of the bevel are rounded. I tried selecting an outer bevel and it almost give me what I want except that the bevel cut is translucent over the background photo.

Any ideas??

No clue here, except to make a generic window by hand & save it for that type of pic. Then you'll get just what you want. ;-)

My new CS2 Framing script will have a matte option to do a similar thing.
It will be possible to specify the number of panes across and down, the spacing between, the color and the texture.

This worked, but I'm sure there is a better way. With your window frame layer on top of the photo, insert another solid color layer between the two. Merge the frame and solid layer together, then use the magic wand to select the "glass" part and delete it. This will cause the beveled part not to be transluscent (as the outer bevel gives you.)

I'll keep trying.
