All with the 35/2.

I was trying to achieve a 3D feeling here. Got the idea from a recent thread on another forum where it was claimed that Zeiss lenses just get you that 3D feeling which is unobtainable with other lenses. Typical for me, I set out to try and create some 3D feeling with the cheapest lens I own with a little tongue in cheek :) Well, actually, my cheapest lens would be the 50 /1.8 II, but the 35/2 was easier to use for these shots.

Yeah definitely #1 is awesome! Is the checkerboard a piece of linoleum?

Is the checkerboard a piece of linoleum?
It's a flexible sheet of plastic.

I like these, especially the colors. The best 3D I have seen was in the Bird forum. It's very hard to achieve, and almost as hard to see what makes it look like 3D. I think the best I saw were four or five levels in the depth of field. For instance, in the very foreground, lower quarter of the frame, was out of focus blur to the point it looked like bokeh, then another layer slightly out of focus, then the bird, in focus, and another layer or two behind, at different amounts of blur. I think it takes more than just three layers of focus to make it look really 3D. Also, different colors were part of them, so that might have something to do with fooling the eye.
