I have had a Cannon A70 for a while and it worked great for me. Unfortunately, while canoeing, I capsized and fell into a lake one day with the camera on. After thoroughly drying it out for about a week (totally open with everything removed) I put in fresh batteries and a different memory card and tried it out. Everything works fine on the camera (zoom, LCD screen for menus, flash, shutter) but the pictures (while the right dimensions depending on my setting) are all black. Also trying to look at the LCD screen to frame a shot all is black. But like I said the menus are all in color and operational (I can adjust photo sizes/quality).
I believe I fried the CCD and just wanted an opinion on whether it is worth trying to fix? I would just buy a new one, but I'm a grad student with limited income. I am decent at fixing electronics, but do not know how pricey/complicated replacing it would be. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
