Spent the day down at Harewood Speed Hillclimb today, who were hosting the British Hillclimb Championship competitors again. Day started off very grey with the odd spot or two of rain, but the sun eventually came through:D . Here's some shots from the day.
#1 The wierdest car I've ever seen - anyone hazard a guess to what it is?

#2 A very rapid Caterham Seven

#3 Quite a few Jedis running

#4 Tried some vertical format shots - interested to know what people think of these

#5 and another one

Hi Simon,
Is it the Saturday / Sunday event ?
I normally give this one a miss as drags on forever with practice on Saturday and timed runs on Sunday.
Love the haze above the car on #4, fantastic shot.
Did Mr Mounsey in the yellow Evo do anything of interest... such as break the record (again?)
Cheers

Hi Mark,
It did seem like it dragged on a bit today, with only 3 practice runs being completed between 9am and 4pm. Recognise the car in your avatar - also looks like an interesting line it's taking through Orchard!
Maybe see you out on 7 August?
Cheers,
Simon.

Bright but overcast is what I find the best. The sun at times today was very harsh, with glare being the biggest problem.

the caterham one is a great shot........pin sharp and the colours are fantastic............. i don't think i like the vertical format ones tho......... the huge expanse of space draws your eye away from the cars (number 5 however works for me becasue you can see the road where the car has just been)

Sadly cannot make first meeting in Aug due to work commnitments....
Should be there for the next one though I think at the end of Aug.
Strange line... really you think ? focused my mind as I leapt off the bank of pop corn. In-car vid was interesting !

Once again I am mightly impressed, Simon. I do like the shot with the roofs in the background. That works well.
I was shooting a hillclimb today. The VSCC at Shelsley Walsh - I hadn't been there before. More like mountaneering than hillclimbing. It's a bit on the steep side compared to Gurston Down!

Excellent stuff. Certainly look leaning nicely on those outside tyres :)

Thanks for the comments Glenn - I really appreciate them. Saturday was one of the few opportunities when I've been in the right place with sufficient light to use the outer focus points on the 20D to accurately track the cars and hence be able to use the vertical format.
Harewood is the only hillclimb venue I've been to so far. Would like to get down to the others if the opportunity arose.
Cheers,
Simon.

Knew I recognised the car Mark. Glad you like the shot. Hopefully catch up with you at the back end of August.
Cheers,
Simon.
