View Full Version : Switching between gadget bags

Depending on where I'm going and what I'm doing, I'll switch between my LowePro Nova200, my LowePro Trekker AW and my Tenba large messenger bag. But it seems like I'm forever ripping out the foam inserts and re-arranging them...again and again and again...drives me nuts. Do you guys figure out where you want the gear arranged and THEN put in the foam, or put in the foam and re-arrange the gear around the foam? I can't seem to find an efficient system.
Thanks.

I have to routinely rebuild my Computrekker Plus AW just about from scratch every time.
The real "fly in the ointment" is whether or not I take my 300mm f/2.8 along with me or not. It alone is worth space for another three lenses if it's not in the mix.
I finally brokedown though and got myself a true "street" bag (Lowepro Classified 200) so the Computrekker Plus may not have to go through so many reconstructions and can stay configured to take the 300.

I use Domke bags; they have "pre-packaged" inserts so it's a simple case of un-velcroing the whole insert from Bag A and sticking it onto Bag B.

I've been a regular Lowepro buyer for years. I just bought my first Domke bag--the oiled F3. It's so easy to use!
Some time ago I used to work out of 2 bags. One was really for storage. I used to have to be very careful that I had the right gear for an appointment or job.
Jon I've had trouble finding a photo store with inserts. Henry's is the biggest Domke retailer in Canada. They carry straps and bags (1 of whatever model they choose to carry.)
Prices in Canada are terrible. I was lucky and they discounted the bag I bought. Otherwise I would have walked. I didn't ask for reduced price.
I would buy the postal strap cushion in a hearbeat. I haven't seen their inserts.
Next time I'll try the US volume dealers.

Jay,
If you're still subscribed to this thread, can post some pictures somewhere (either here or the Show Your Bags thread) showing how you pack your Classified 200 with your 1D? I'm not sure I like the way it fits. I just picked up this bag and I'm thinking I may get rid of it. Thanks.

I'm terrible at doing reviews but I'll see what I can accomplish...
