You can see the lenses that I own from my signature. I will be spending a week on business in Las Vegas in April. I am wanting to do a lot of shooting when I am there. I am considering renting the 16-35L or the 10-22. Any thoughts? Other ideas?

For your APS-C body, go with the 10-22mm.

Everything in Vegas is HUGE, and you will definitely want as wide as you can go for a lot of shots.

Vegas is such a visual playground. Trust me, you could find a use for everything you own as well as a rental UWA lens.

I think it is better if you rent a hotels in las vegas. Because it is much safer than other. There are many hotels in las vegas that can make your stay nice.

There are some vantage points where it would be nice to have a 100mm+ zoom. There's so much there that putting so much into a wide-angle will get too cluttered. I would say take a nice wide-angle and a nice zoom.

Stratosphere Don't miss the impossible rides. Go there every time we visit. We'll be there mid August.

Can you name some vantage points please? We watched the Bellagio fountain show from the top
of the Eiffel tower and it was great. I would recommend a
trip up there, the view is great.

+1 As cheesy as it sounds, I proposed to my fiance up there. :D
Having a lens with a little bit of range to it comes in handy when trying to snap a few shots of the gaming tables, people tend to get antsy if they notice they're being photographed gambling while on a business trip, lol.

I was JUST there with my 50d and used my 17-40L most of the time...but there were definitely times when the 10-22 would have been great and would have certainly relied on it if I had it. My friend (also with a 50d) used his non-stop, it didn't leave his camera once. There are multiple walkways over the strip, just look for crannies to stick your camera in and get a clear shot. I do prefer the way fixed light sources look with the 17-40 though, although that's just personal preference.
